So this not be coming entirely from the mother. I have 2 older, 28 and 25, and both wanted to find work as as they hit around 16, just so they could have a little of their own money. Wasn't always full time. They looked for part time as well. And obviously once they start working, then they have their OWN schedule to keep, and their OWN life to lead. It's not entirely the mother who makes these decisions. Once the reach a certain age then THEY also have their input. I also have a 14 year old (15 next month) from my second ex-marriage. And she is already telling me that she wants to do some volunteer work in the next 1 to 2 years, and seek full employment for of. Not something either her mother or I are pushing on her. It's HER that wants it. So what should a parent do in a case like this? Say no? I don't think you can do that. Your are growing up. work is a fact of life for them. The best thing I can suggest for you is to ROLL WITH IT. Embrace it. if there is some way YOU can help them. Ask yourself what you want for your. Do you want them to be lazy? not working? Not interested to work? I don't think so. When they finally strike out on their own, do you want them to be ABLE to find a job? to have experience looking for a job? to have tried a few jobs already so they know what they like? and don't like? I'm sure that you and your ex differ on things. It's why you are divorced. S why don't you look for opportunities for your, even if it's just for a few days work.
